John and Irene have been happily married for 50 years. To thank them for being such wonderful parents and to commemorate this milestone, their daughter Diane booked a 50th anniversary session for them.

They were so sweet and easy to work with, and still so obviously in love after all these years. I asked them what words of wisdom they might have about marriage and Irene said: "Laugh a lot, ignore a lot....and just have fun!"

 

 

Look at them, still having fun after 50 years! What an inspiration.

We received the sweetest note from Diane yesterday - it put a huge smile on my face.

"I wanted to thank you once again for the 50th anniversary photos you took of my parents. They are so overjoyed with how great the pictures turned out - there is only ONE my mom didn't like, which should speak volumes as to your talent! :) She says these are the best photos she's ever seen of herself and that she feels beautiful! She's never said that before and I just can't thank you enough!!!"

This couple is straight outta my dreams. I love them! We had so many ideas for their session, we ended up doing two! They will be getting married at The La Jolla Woman's Club on Halloween. How awesome is that? Seriously, this couple has style for miles and are just so darn fun to hang out with. We're so excited to be working with them!

For the first session, we cruised around South Park with their dog, Bodie. He was super excited to be out! for! a! walk!

I don't care how many times I see them, balloons as a prop make me sooo happy!

Session two had a slightly different feel. We met outside the old San Diego Stage and Lighting Building which is adorned with a beautiful mural,  painted by Isaias Lopez in 2008 in an effort to temporarily beautify this part of the city, however there is obviously nothing temporary about it's beauty.  Also, I am not afraid to use run on sentences.

I can safely say that Ingrid is my oldest friend - I met her in the second grade when I moved to San Diego. She had this white and hot pink polka dot skirt that I coveted and she was really, really good at playing tether ball.  We remained friends all through elementary school and jr. high, even when I moved to another school.  There was one summer at least where if I was not at her house, she was at mine. We ended up at the same high school and though we hung out with different crowds, we still kept in touch.

So much can happen in such a short time... Ingrid, who has always been brilliant, is now a dentist and lives all the way acroos the country in Maine. Needless to say, I was thrilled when she asked me to shoot some maternity photos for her but mostly thrilled that she would soon be a mother!  Ingrid and Ben currently reside in Maine where she is a dentist and will be welcoming their son in about 6 weeks.

I love this one... I've had this umbrella forever but haven't had the chance to use it yet!

ken + christina, engagement session - orange county wedding photography!

 Rewind about 4 years. After chatting with Ken on Fotolog, an online photo community that used to be a huge part of my life,  it was decided that I would trade him a pack of my polaroid film for an adorable wallet he had painted with a wiener dog. Since then, I've always affectionately referred to Ken as "The Wiener Dog Guy". So, I met up with the Wiener Dog guy and his gal, Tina, and we lamented about working in a cubicle (it sucks!) and aspirations of starting a wedding photography business, fashion design, and I tried to convince Ken to take his Wiener Dog creations to the masses. We eventually lost touch as online acquaintances tend to do. Fast forward to about three months ago... while cleaning out my closet, I found that adorable wiener dog wallet and of course thought about Ken and Christina. Fast forward a few more weeks - I receive an email asking if I'd be available to shoot their wedding this May! We are so very excited to be part of what we know is going to be a very special and intimate gathering to celebrate their sweet and quiet love.. check back in a few weeks for that!

Now for their engagement session! We met up in San Juan Capistrano with plans to shoot around the Mission, but that did not work out. I have to say I'm kind of glad now when I look at the images!

I met up with Jason and Suzanne in Balboa Park for their engagement session. We actually had planned to start there and end at the beach but mother nature had other plans for us!Without warning, huge drops started to fall from, so we decided to call it a day. We had a great session regardless and I am looking forward to their wedding in August.

We met up with Brendan and Alycia on Valentine's Day for a super fun engagemnt session. Why do I love my job so much? Oh yeah, I get to hang out with people who are crazy in love!!

This is one of those couples that you can just tell are crazy about each other, which not only makes me feel warm and fuzzy, it makes my job super easy.  Plus, they were really fun to hang out with ...can't wait for their wedding!

Coronado, CA

What fun this session was! It happens to be extra special because this couple will be moving away from California soon. We decided to shoot all around Coronado since this was where the bride grew up. We started at Spreckles Park, worked our way downtown and ended up at the Beautiful Hotel Del, right at the spot where Brennan proposed. Tisha and Brennan, we can't wait for your wedding in November!
